83 Year Old Woman Undergoes Breast Augmentation - More Seniors Opting for Platic Surgery
Marie Kolstad, an 83 year old widow from Orange County, California, recently underwent breast augmentation to fulfill a life long dream of having firmer, rounder breasts. Mrs. Kolstad told The New York Times, "as you age your breasts go in one direction and your brain goes in another!" She went on to say that although she is a widow, she never gave a thought to meeting someone different. "It was more about looking in the mirror and liking who I am." We spoke to board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Vitolo, about seniors and plastic surgery. "More and more I perform surgical procedures on patients in their late 60's and 70's, " says Dr. Vitolo, " with life expectancy being well into the 80's people want to look and feel their best."
Dr. Vitolo went on to tell us that some of the most common procedures requested by seniors are his state of the art endoscopic brow and mid-face lift, full face and neck lifts, as well as breast reductions, lifts and augmentations. The number of cosmetic procedures performed on older Americans has been steadily rising in the past decade, and experts are expecting an even greater surge in those statistics as baby boomers begin to pass age 65.
