The Procedure

After a consultation with Dr. Vitolo regarding the areas you would like to address, he carefully injects BOTOX® Cosmetic in precise locations to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® injections are completed in as little as fifteen minutes with minimal discomfort. No anesthesia is required, although the area may be numbed with a cold pack of anesthetic cream prior to injection. While patients may experience minor discomfort, it is temporary and fades quickly after the treatment.

After Your BOTOX® Injections

After BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected, some patients may experience tenderness, and/or redness in the injection site. There is no downtime associated with the BOTOX® injection procedure. Patients may continue life as normal after the treatment, and will see marked improvements in the treated areas within a few days. The treated areas may continue to improve for up to one month after the procedure, and the results last for as long as four months. Dr. Vitolo will help you determine when you should be scheduled for another visit to our New York City, Brooklyn, Staten Island, or New Jersey office for your next BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Risks and Considerations

Though BOTOX® injections are simple to undergo and achieve visible results, we advise our patients to enjoy BOTOX® Cosmetic responsibly! Getting BOTOX® injections too often can result in an unnatural, pulled appearance that can be avoided by following Dr. Vitolo’s instructions for caring and maintaining the look of your face after receiving the injections.

Prospective patients should be aware that BOTOX® Cosmetic is not ideal for everyone. Those with wrinkles and creases near the eyes, lips, and around the nose may actually be better served with Restylane®, JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel, or another injectable filler. BOTOX® injections have an increased risk of serious side effects in individuals with neuromuscular disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis, and Lambert-Eaton syndrome.
