Who is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

The best candidates for liposuction surgery are those individuals who have stubborn fat tissue that won’t respond to a healthy diet and exercise regimen. These candidates are usually genetically prone to holding on to this fat, which is why liposuction may be the best option for fat removal.

Candidates for liposuction surgery should also be:

  • Within a healthy weight range (not obese)
  • Able to follow a healthy lifestyle to maintain their results
  • Aware of the fact that liposuction is not a weight-loss solution

Is There a Weight Requirement for Liposuction?

There’s no weight requirement for liposuction candidates; rather, Dr. Vitolo prefers that liposuction candidates be in a healthy weight range. For example, if you’re 50 pounds from your ideal weight, Dr. Vitolo may suggest losing additional weight before seeking out liposuction, as the procedure won’t necessarily change your weight.

Remember, liposuction is a body-contouring surgery, not a weight-loss surgery!

What is Dr. Vitolo’s Approach to Liposuction?

Dr. Vitolo’s approach to liposuction is like that of an artist, in that he’ll analyze and contour your body to produce its most natural shape. For that reason, he prefers to call the procedure “liposculpture”, as it reflects the artistic approach he takes to helping patients achieve their dream bodies!

Dr. Vitolo uses a state of the art procedure known as External Ultrasonic Assisted Liposculpture (EUAL). In this fat removal surgery, he injects fluid into the areas he wants to treat (saline+anesthetic) as most plastic surgeons do, but instead of beginning the liposculpture, he appies ultrasonic energy, through the skin to the areas he will re-contour.  The ultrasonic energy softens and semi-liquifies the fat. It is only then that he begins the liposculpture.
