EUAL Liposuction vs. Liposuction: What Are the Differences?

There’s more than one type of liposuction procedure out there – and while choice is certainly a good thing, it can feel a little overwhelming if you’re trying to figure out which option is right for you.

One of the newest liposuction options available is External Ultrasonic Assisted Liposculpture (EUAL) Liposuction, which uses ultrasonic energy to break up fat tissue.

But how does this surgery compare to traditional liposuction? What are the differences between EUAL Liposuction vs. Liposuction?

EUAL Liposuction: How It’s Different From Liposuction

EUAL Liposuction breaks up fat tissue with ultrasonic energy, rather than with the manual force that’s required with traditional liposuction surgery.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Vitolo uses EUAL Liposuction to deliver highly contoured body sculpting results for his patients. In this surgery, he injects saline and anesthetic into the treatment area. From there, he delivers the ultrasonic energy to the desired treatment area. The ultrasonic energy softens and semi-liquifies the fat.

Once the fat has been liquified, Dr. Vitolo can remove it through fine cannulas that use suction technology. Because Dr. Vitolo doesn’t have to break up the fat, this means that the ultrasound also decreases bleeding and bruising during the procedure, which also causes the skin to contract quicker.

The main difference between EUAL Liposuction and Traditional Liposuction is how the fat is removed from the body. Regular liposuction surgery requires a plastic surgeon to manually break up the fat tissue through force, which can cause excessive bleeding, bruising, and swelling. That can add up to significant recovery time!

With EUAL Liposuction, however, the fat tissue is liquified, meaning there’s less bleeding and bruising involved. As a result, recovery is a lot faster – in fact, most patients can return to work about two to three days after their procedure!

“My experience was wonderful. The staff was professional and informative. They provided top-quality care. Dr. Vitolo is amazing. I am very pleased with my results. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to do Liposuction.” *
