If you have considered a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) to enhance your buttocks, you may have encountered some concerning safety facts. Buttock sculpting can make your buttocks look rounder and perkier without most risks of a BBL. This procedure uses liposuction to sculpt your figure, making your buttocks more noticeable and fuller-looking.
What is a BBL?
Brazilian butt lifts have grown in popularity as larger, more shapely buttocks have drawn more media attention. To perform a BBL, a surgeon uses liposuction to remove fat from another part of the body, then cleans it and injects it into the buttocks.
While the risk of liposuction is not especially high, injecting fat into the buttocks can be dangerous. BBL procedures have the most increased risks of any cosmetic surgery. Risks include injected fat traveling to other parts of the body, bleeding, and post-surgical complications.
Is There a Safer Alternative to a BBL?
Dr. Vitolo has developed his buttock sculpting procedure as a safer alternative to a BBL. Sculpting does not make your buttocks bigger, but you may not actually want bigger buttocks. Instead, buttock sculpting gives you more aesthetically pleasing contours that enhance your buttocks. Areas treated during this procedure include:
- Love handles
- Inner thighs
- Under the buttocks
With no fat injections, buttock sculpting reduces your risk significantly. Dr. Vitolo decreases the risk even more by using external ultrasonic-assisted liposculpture (EUAL). This method lets him guide his body sculpting using ultrasound technology.
Benefits of Buttock Sculpting
Buttock sculpting offers fewer risks than BBL, but the procedure has other benefits. Most noticeably, Dr. Vitolo’s process removes fat and shapes the waist, thighs, and hips to make your buttocks look larger and fuller. You will fit better in your clothes and have a more pleasing waist to buttock ratio. Many people find that their slimmer figure and improved contours make them happier than larger buttocks would have.
Am I a Good Candidate for Buttock Sculpting?
If you would make a good candidate for liposuction, you can also have buttock sculpting. You should be in good health and understand what you can expect from the procedure. People with very little body fat may not be good liposuction candidates.
What is Recovery Like From Buttock Sculpting?
Recovery from a BBL can take several months, and you cannot sit on your buttocks for much of that time. Recovery from buttock sculpting only takes a few days. Many people have the procedure on Friday and return to work on Monday. EUAL technology minimizes tissue disruption, so you experience minimal swelling or discomfort.
