As a Board-Certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Vitolo’s approach to this procedure is like that of an artist. He visually assesses the contours of your body and sculpts away the offending fat, thus creating a more symmetrical pleasing shape for your body.
When you meet with Dr. Vitolo during your consultation, you will discuss why you want liposuction and what you expect from the procedure. Dr. Vitolo will examine you and make recommendations for your procedure.
Dr. Vitolo uses a state of the art procedure known as External Ultrasonic Assisted Liposculpture (EUAL). In this fat removal surgery, he injects fluid into the areas he wants to treat (saline+anesthetic) as most plastic surgeons do, but instead of beginning the liposculpture, he appies ultrasonic energy, through the skin to the areas he will re-contour. The ultrasonic energy softens and semi-liquifies the fat. It is only then that he begins the liposculpture. Since the fat is in a semi-liquid state, he does not have to forcefully break up the fat, but he simply removes it through fine cannulas with suction. The ultrasound also decreases bleeding during the procedure and causes the skin to contract quicker.
When the best contour is achieved, Dr. Vitolo molds the body by applying a foam tape to the areas suctioned. This serves to keep the new shape stabilized during healing and importantly, prevent bruising.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in Dr. Vitolo’s state of the art AAAASF Certified ambulatory facility, and usually takes between one and three hours. The patient is placed in a compression garment, which is to be worn for two days then removed.
