THE SLING NECK LIFT: THE BENEFITS OF A NECK LIFT WITHOUT SKIN EXCISION
In this new minimally invasive neck lift procedure Dr. Robert Vitolo does not excise any skin to tighten the neck. The procedure uses external ultrasonic liposculpture to remove the fatty tissue in the jowls and double chin area. He then makes a small incision behind each ear and through these incisions, he creates a narrow tunnel under the neck skin from one ear to the other. A very fine suture is passed through the tunnel under the neck skin from one side to the other. The suture is fixed to the strong tissues behind the ear through the incision, pulled tight from one side and then fixed to the other side.
The sling suture, which is long-lasting, provides a focal point for the skin to drape on, and pulls the loose skin back against the neck, creating a clean neckline. Patients usually feel a firm sensation in the neck for a week or so, but that feeling then disappears and the neck feels normal.
WHO’S A GOOD CANDIDATE?
The best candidate for neck liposculpture is a person with a moderate amount of fat under the neck who wishes to remove the jowls and loose skin under the chin. This procedure only has a half-inch incision behind each ear and is perfect for a patient who doesn’t want to have visible scars or who is not ready for the traditional neck lift surgery.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
Neck liposculpture can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation. It also can be combined with other facial or body procedures. There is minimal downtime, as the patient will wear a compressive neck garment for two to three days, after which the patient can return to normal activities.
